Alistair Bolingbroke

ALISTAIR BOLINGBROKE
28-02-1950 - 19-09-2023

We were all shocked and saddened by the news that Alistair had unexpectedly passed away last Friday.

Alistair had been a member of Rochdale Cricket Club for more than 50 years.

As a player, he was 1st X1 Captain in 1979/80.  In later years he also captained the 2nd X1.

As a player, he was a top order batsman and a slip fielder.  In the era of Joel Garner, Colin Croft and Curley Ambrose, batting was no easy task, yet Alistair relished the challenges and acquitted himself well.

Throughout his more than 50 years with us, Alistair has served the club in many and various roles.
Club President, Cricket Chairman and Secretary, as well as representing the Club as League Representative, ensured his long term commitment to cricket and RCC.

There is some debate as to which was his first love.  Alistair was a lifelong supporter or Rochdale AFC.  A season ticket holder, he followed them home and away.
Also a Rochdale Hornet supporter, Alistair had an encyclopaedic knowledge of their history.

We have lost a lifelong supporter - and a great friend - and we offer our condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his wife Joan, daughter Joanne and son in law Martin.
